This is IAR

We enable our customers to create and secure today's products and tomorrow's innovations.

It all started over 40 years ago

Our journey started in 1983 in Uppsala, Sweden, with the engineer Anders Rundgren and his launch of the world’s first C compiler for the 8051 microcontroller architecture. "IAR" is an abbreviation of Ingenjörsfirman Anders Rundgren, which means Anders Rundgren Engineering Company. Today, you can find embedded software everywhere and thanks to that, thousands of developers worldwide are using our software.

Throughout the years, we have evolved and fine-tuned our technology to stay ahead of competition and always serve our customers in the best way we can. We have friends at all major suppliers in our industry, enabling great knowledge sharing and powerful technology innovation worldwide.

Embedded technology is now everywhere - We help to secure it

The world faces major security challenges, with 27 billion IoT connections in 2025. To help customers solve these issues, IAR Embedded Security, formerly Secure Thingz, is the global domain expert in device security, embedded systems, and lifecycle management.

We have always been helping our customers create high-quality code. For several years, we have delivered solutions to ensure functional safety in embedded systems. With IAR Embedded Security, we have security experts in our crew, further enforcing the dream of a connected world built with strong embedded technology that Anders had in 1983.
