To perform some of the functions, the License Manager also requires
the support files LmsCheckKey.exe
, CheckKey.dll
,
and CheckKeyV2.dll
to be located in the same directory as the License Manager.
Instead of a row of buttons, you will now use a menu to activate the functions of the License Manager.
Some other changes to the user interface are:
A part of the license installation is to select the product(s) that should use the new license. Like earlier, if there is only one installed product that matches the license (the most common case), the license is silently installed with no further user interaction.
If the situation is more complex, the selection of product(s) that should use the license has changed a bit. In general, you will see all products installed on your PC. Earlier, some products were not shown if the License Manager did not consider the products to be candidates to use the new license.
In this version, installation of a standalone license and a network license will display different product selection dialog boxes, making it possible to describe the available options in a better way.
If the license to install is already present on the license server, it is now treated in the same way as when installing the license for the first time. In previous versions, you had to confirm that you wanted to use that server if the license had been installed already.
Removing a license from a license server is only allowed when you run the License Manager on the license server machine.
The old message was
A dongle cannot be found. Dongle is missing or driver not installed.
The new message is
Although a dongle has been found, dongle type and serial number could not be read.
Please uninstall and reinstall the dongle drivers.
Remember to remove any USB dongles before reinstalling.
IAR_LSHOST
to define
a list of license servers to check, the previous version of the
License Manager could crash. Even if the License Manager did not
crash, it did not handle the list of servers correctly.
In this version, if a colon-separated list of servers is defined in
IAR_LSHOST
, licenses on these servers will be displayed
in addition to local licenses, and network licenses used by the
local PC.
If you select View>All Servers, all license servers on the local
subnet are displayed, and the environment variable
IAR_LSHOST
is ignored.
IAR_LSHOST
and IAR_LSFORCEHOST
were
not always considered when installing a network license.
MFC42.DLL
, version 4.21.0.7303 or laterMSVCP60.DLL
, version 6.0.8168.0 or laterMSVCRT.DLL
, version 6.0.8797.0 or later
Although other versions may work, these are the
versions used during test. Note that MSVCRT.DLL
must be installed in the Windows system folder on
most versions of Windows. For the other DLL:s, it should
be sufficient if they are located in the same folder
as the License Manager.
If you get the error message
The MSVCP60.DLL file is linked to
missing export MSVCRT.DLL:__lc_collate_cp
MSVCRT.DLL
is too old. For help with
this problem, see

To perform some of the functions, the License Manager also requires

Lms.log
,
stored in a subdirectory of the "common files" directory. This
log file contains information needed if you request technical support
from IAR Systems.
Earlier, information written to transfer files during license transfer
was logged to a file named transfer.log
.
This separate transfer
logging is still performed, but may be removed in a future release of the
License Manager.
In the previous version, you had to acknowledge the installation of each individual license even if all went well.
In this version, the file can specify that licenses should be installed in "silent mode". In this case, you will not need to acknowledge each license if the installation goes well. There is only one final message stating that installation of all licenses went well.
transfer.log

not sufficient. More information has been added in this version
